PRESS LAUNCH A GREAT SUCCESS

The Manchester Comedy Festival 2010 was introduced in spectacular fashion as press and punters alike came together for the press launch, held at The Comedy Store in Manchester.

Performances from the likes of Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Boy With Tape on His Face, Jason Cook, Mick Ferry, Piff the Magic Dragon and Andrew Ryan showcased the terrific talent on offer during the two week-long Festival.

Comedy Store founder Don Ward was also on hand to welcome the launch of the festival, in the process thanking the key partners who have made the event possible, namely Manchester City Council.

The programme this year is the biggest yet, with 210 shows compared with 83 last year, and also offers Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle, Rhod Gilbert, Mark Watson and Shapp Khorsandi alongside the hottest new talent on the circuit such as Lady Garden, Joe Lycett, Henry Paker, Colin Manford and John Robins.

Manchester Comedy Festival spokesperson Will Wood said: "The press launch was a tremendous success and truly showcased the talent on offer, as well as the diversity of the acts.

"It's fitting that in the tenth year the programme is bigger than ever as well as across more venues to give it a true festival feel. We'd like to thank everybody who came down, including the large number of press that attended, as well as the acts who took part."
